Hello! Welcome to the ‘You Are Art’ blog

My first blog post as an artist! How exciting. I’m excited.

I’ve been meaning to start writing blog posts again for a while now and I figure what better time than a brand spankin’ new year? I’m going to give it a whirl for the 4th time in my life!

You read that right, my fourth time. What can I say, I really like to ramble on and write about the things I’m passionate about.
Here’s a list of my previous blogs for your viewing pleasure:

I created my first blog in 2011 and called it ’Forever Clubs’ - no, not a blog about nightclubs, a blog dedicated to reviewing clubhouse sandwiches. I…really liked clubhouse sandwiches. I had lofty dreams of becoming a world renowned clubhouse critic and travelling around the world trying different versions of this culinary delight. Though that didn’t pan out I did eat a clubhouse in Mexico and got food poisoning so there’s that.

Before the ‘great clubhouse sandwich food poisoning ordeal’ of 2019

My second blog was called ‘The Medicine Beach’. I made this blog in 2015 a few months after I moved to Vancouver. It was primarily a poetry blog but I included a few personal stories in there as well (my poetry was pretty personal though, to be honest). I loved this blog because it gave me a creative outlet and if I didn’t write I couldn’t post, so I was writing all the time. I still write poetry now as it’s still an important creative outlet for me, and will even include a poem with an art piece once and a while.

I started my third blog in 2016 and called it ‘Once You Land’. It was the summer leading up to my move to New Zealand and I wanted to use it as a travel blog. I even started vlogging a bit for it on YouTube (disaster) and took some marketing and blogging courses as I thought I could make it big as a travel blogger. Overall it was a good learning experience and added another fun element to my travels.

Do I find it hilarious that I started a blog about clubhouse sandwiches? Yes. Do I cringe at some of the personal stuff I shared and the vlogging I did? Absolutely. Do I regret any of it? Nope. Not even a little bit. I’m sure some people read my posts and thought it was dumb, or that I was ridiculous, but I loved every moment of sharing, of writing, of dreaming, of creating. And I feel the same way about making art. I try my best to live my life without worrying too much about what other people think of me, and as long as what I’m doing isn’t hurting anyone then I’m going to continue to chase my lofty dreams. I encourage you to do the same!

Happy 2022!
